Leanne Johnston

I relocated to the Barossa Valley early 2023 after retiring from my career as a designer.

Having been creative all my life, I now have time to nurture my artistic skills in mixed media – collage & print making. Mostly abstract, my work originates from an interest in small details of the built environment and the landscape in which I live or have travelled.

Often working with my own photographs – I edit to suit my need at the time. Images trigger the memory of place, the emotion & experience of it. My love of shape, texture, pattern & line are layered into the work as I progress intuitively, responding to what  has preceded. This process seems to allow the piece to find me once I’ve put in the work – I just need to pay attention.
