Sue Baker Artist

Sue is an encaustic artist, practising from her home studio in Lyndoch. Encaustic art involved painting with molten beeswax, fused with heat between layers. Sue is inspired by landscapes and patterns within nature. Working with a natural medium amplifies the effects of the wax’s characteristics. Horizon lines feature regularly, as too do lines and texture within landscapes. Sue creates mostly on wooden panels, from mini boards up to large commissioned pieces. The wax on finalised pieces can be buffed to a warm sheen, as it cures in its early life.
